Her book, Our Heroes, profiles the Latino firemen who died on September 11. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wrote the prologue. This was the first time that Planeta, the largest of the Spanish-language publishers, released a book in English. The book is also available in Spanish, under the title Nuestros Héroes. It was selected by Críticas magazine, which is produced by Publishers Weekly, as one of the best Spanish-language books of 2002.
Carolina is an editor at the New York Times International Weekly. She has worked for many of the most important media outlets in the Spanish-speaking world, including The Wall Street Journal Americas, Fortune Americas, Channel 13 in Chile, and La Vanguardia in Spain. The Chilean Association of Television Journalists named Carolina the best young reporter in the country and honored her with the “Young Generation” award. Later she won a Fulbright scholarship and moved to New York to study at Columbia University, where she earned Master's degrees in Journalism and International Relations.
